We are called "...to the obedience that comes from faith...among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ." (1:5, 6). "...now a righteousness from God...has been made known... This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe... ...(we) are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." (3:21, 22, 24). Just as "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." (4:3).
"...it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring." (9:8). Note 10:9-15+! "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (10:10).
"Therefore, I urge you...offer yourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God...be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."(12:1, 2). "...in Christ we who are many form one body... We have different gifts... (use them!)" (12:5, 6+). "...Love your neighbor as yourself." (13:9).
Disobedience (sin) is like a disease in our body. God provides Jesus Christ as the cure -- like a vaccine -- to give us immunity to disobedience (sin).
Faith has three parts:
Forgiveness clears our conscience of past acts of disobedience & thoughts leading to acts of disobedience - see Hebrews 9:14; 10:2.
So we can stand before God and seek God's direction going forward. See 1 Timothy 3:9.
And act according to God's will, even though we may not know where that will lead us! See Hebrews chapter 11.
Faith does not necessarily take away the consequences of our disobedience however! Throughout the Bible Abraham is cited as a Man of Faith. Re-read Genesis chapters 12 through 22. Abraham's faith did not remove the consequences of his disobedience! We are still living with the consequences today!!
