Some Biblical scholars say that parts of the Bible were stories (hymns, poems) that were told and retold in family gatherings—for generations. The first few chapters of Genesis are an excellent example. Eventually these stories were written down and passed on to us.
We’ll spend a lot of time on the first few
chapters of the Bible, because they help set the foundation or framework
for the rest of the Bible. You are encouraged to read the Bible yourself.
The purpose of this outline is to help you place things in perspective as
you read through the Bible. A lot
of good stories have been left out of this outline, so as you read through the
Bible, add to this outline or create your own!
We will begin with just reading the Bible and listening to the stories in both the Old & New Testaments. Then we will go into a little more detail, on various topics.
