Noah, the flood and the covenant
(Genesis Chapters 6 - 9)

The Flood (Genesis chapters 6-8)
The Lord was grieved that he had made man…’I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth’…but Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” (6:6-8)  God gave Noah specific instructions as to how to build an ark (a big boat) and what to bring into it.  Noah did everything just as God commanded him.” (6:22 & 7:5)  All living creatures were destroyed in the flood except what was in the ark: Noah, his 3 sons, their wives and 2 (a male & female) of all animals, birds and creatures.

The covenant (Genesis chapter 9)
I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth...I have set my rainbow in the clouds…this is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” (9:11, 13 & 17)
