Sardis: You Are Dead In Deeds.  Wake Up!
(Revelation 3:1-6)

"...I know your deeds; you have a reputation for being alive, but you are dead.  Wake up!  Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God."  (3:1-2).  Sounds like one of today's churches with a dynamic pastor, magnificent choirs, extensive forums & educational opportunities, numerous activities, skilled staff, etc., etc.  But with relatively few Bible studies and with even fewer people who encourage one another to live an everyday Christian life of service.

Church should be a place to hear God's Word and be encouraged in your Christian life.  It should not be the main place where you "do good deeds!"  Your daily activities are your Christian Ministry -- regardless of your job, career or occupation.  Your Christian Ministry includes how you acquire and use: every penny of your money; every second of your time; and, every other resource at your disposal.  Consider every person and every element in the universe as part of God's creation.  We are all in this together!  God gave us specific responsibilities (Genesis 1:28 & 2:15).  How are we doing?

"Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent..." (3:3).  "He who overcomes will...(walk with me)...dressed in white.  I will never erase his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels." (3:5)*.

*White is purity.  Clothes are deeds.  Jesus' garments, during the Transfiguration, were White (Mark 9:3).  God lives in unapproachable light (1 Timothy 6:16).

"...everyone whose name is found in the book -- will be delivered." (Daniel 12:1).  "...A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name." (Malachi 3:16).  Beast's followers are not in the Book of Life (13:8 & 17:8).  "...The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books...  If anyone's name was not found written in the Book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (20:12 & 15).  "Nothing impure will ever enter it (the Holy City)...but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life." (21:27).
