The Fall Of Babylon
(Revelation 18:1-24)

In Genesis 11:1-9 humans banded together, in rebellion against God, to build a tower to heaven.  God stopped them by confusing their language -- so it was called Babel.  Later one of the richest cities of the world, called Babylon, was built on the site.  It was the king of Babylon that enslaved Israel.  Now the name Babylon is given to the government (band of people) which would enslave the Church.  Jeremiah chapters 50 & 51 maybe the inspiration for Revelation chapter 18.

"One hour" is repeated 3 times in chapter 18 (verses 10, 17 & 19) and "one day" once (verse 8).  These passages read more like literature (poetry, psalms, songs) than chapter 6, and 8:1-11:14, 12:1-9, & 12:13-14:20.  So, can a person assume these periods of time are figurative language?
